  • God has given us The Bible because He wants us to get to know Him! 

    Six keys to reading the Bible and getting to know God, we need to: 

    1. Be humble - knowing we need God

    2. Have faith - believing what God says and that He still does what He says

    3. Seek The Truth - trusting God’s truth above any other voice / opinion

    4. Desire a relationship with God - do it with God - the goal is to know God more and grow your relationship with Him

    5. Learn to wait - wait with God as He brings the right revelation at the right time

    6. Look to find Jesus - it’s all about Jesus. Ask Holy Spirit to show you Jesus as you read

GOD SPEAKS TO US EVERYDAY THROUGH THE BIBLe

  • Our prayer is that on every page of your Bible, you would find the truth, wisdom and love that you need, and more than that, that you would find Jesus, and get to know Him!

  • Did you know that there are 63,779 cross references in the Bible - where truths and events are repeated in different books and chapters.

    And over 300 words spoken about Jesus throughout the Old Testament that He fulfils in the New Testament.

    That is not crazy coincidence, it’s divine design. You can’t make this up, that each book written over different time periods, in different locations, with different authors, even different languages, all interlink and tell one cohesive big story… proof that all these books had the same coauthor - God.

  • Practical tips to reading The Bible that help you deepen your friendship with God (or help you get to know God):

    • WHAT - Your Bible + expect you are going to meet with God.
      Tip: You can make it special.

    • WHERE - Anywhere! Try and avoid distractions so you can give God your full attention and affection.
      Tip: turn off notifications.

    • WHEN - Consistency is key! You’re building a relationship - prioritise time with God.
      Tip: God is the real prize. Spend time with Him by reading your Bible everyday.

    • HOW - next video!

    New habits don't happen accidentally. They are intentional and daily and can start really small. But even a small start to the habit of reading your Bible will have big impacts! 

4. HOW TO READ THE BIBLE

WSOFY: WHAT STOOD OUT FOR YOU?

WHAT GOD IS HIGHLIGHTING TO YOU, IS GOD SPEAKING TO YOU.

  • Simple steps for how to read your Bible everyday and hear from God!

    1. PRAY

    • Become aware that God is right here with you

    • Ask for: faith, humility, trust, to experience God’s love and to Know Him


    2. READ

    • Don’t focus on what you don’t understand

    • Instead, highlight WSOFY = What Stood Out For You? That’s God speaking to you

    • There’s no rush - take your time, you’re getting to know God! How good!

    • Remember: You’re reading The Bible WITH God, so ask Him for help


    3. APPLY

    • Obey: Because we know God loves us, we get to love Him back by obeying Him

    • Repent: When God shows us something in our lives (like a belief or behaviour) that is turning us away from Him, we get to repent and turn back to Him and choose Him and His ways again

    • Pray: We need God! Pray and ask for God’s grace and power to help you to obey, repent and be transformed. Trust that God will do in our lives what we could never do without Him


    4. MEDITATE

    • Continue to focus your attention on God throughout the day and remember and think about what He’s been highlighting to you from The Bible

    • You can ask Him to help you actually do what He’s shown you

    • Remember: it’s not about trying harder, but relying more

    PRAM - Our 4 steps spell out PRAM. God is our really good Father, we get to come to Him as His beloved children, dependent on Him. We can lean back, rest and let Him lead us, trusting He is taking us to good places! And remember, pams don’t have steering wheels…
